Temple Beth Sholom is currently in the midst of its 2012 Visioning and Planning Project. The Visioning and Planning Committee (VPC) is working hard to offer as many opportunities as possible for all members of TBS, as well as non-affiliated Jews in Salem and the surrounding areas, to share their thoughts about the future of TBS.

The TBS Visioning and Planning Project offers an opportunity for the voices of all members, past members, and potential members, to be heard to take a pro-active role in determining what direction we will take in moving forward toward the long term future of our community.

SVP Timelines:

December 2011 - Steering Committee Selection

January 2012 - Committee planning work, research, invitations for parlor meetings

February and March 2012 - Parlor meetings held: Parlor meetings are being organized so that TBS members living in close proximity to each other, can meet in at a neighbor's home and share their past experiences and explore their future needs as members of the TBS community. These meetings will be guided discussions and will be led by a member of the TBS community. During this process, the VPC will also be reaching out to Jews in the Salem area that are not members of TBS so that we may understand the perspectives of those who are unaffiliated as well.

CURRENT STEP:

March 2012 - The Community Parlor Meetings have taken place and were very well received by those who participated. The Visioning Committee gathered very valuable information regarding the needs and experiences of current TBS members. The committee is now in the process of reviewing and analyzing the feedback that was received, and will be announcing the next round of meetings very shortly!

June 2012 - Vision & Planning Report presented to Board of Trustees
