Sustainability
TBS is proud to have earned the EarthWISE Certification from Marion County!
This is a meaningful accomplishment in furthering the efforts to save our earth. EarthWISE Certification consists of meeting pre-established criteria:
- Waste reduction and prevention
- Recycling
- Environmentally preferable purchasing
- Outreach and education
- Water pollution prevention and conservation
- Energy conservation
Since we moved to the Cunningham location, we have:
- Installed CFL bulbs in fixtures,
- Installed motion sensor lighting in the kitchen
- Installed marmoleum flooring in the kitchen,
- Use recycled paper in the office, and
- Instigated a non-watering lawn policy.
We owe special thanks to the sustainability committee, the TBS staff and the TBS membership family that cooperates in these endeavors to make our synagogue an example and leader in the faith community. The Reconstructionist movement is at the forefront in the faith community in fostering sustainability as a moral imperative.
We are committed to continue to identify those areas and items that will help us maintain accreditation.
